Recommendations for a peaceful aquarium?

Perhaps a mating pair of kribs, rainbow cichlids, rams? Blue/gold rams get to about 2", kribs get to 4", rainbow cichlids get to 5". All are relatively peaceful, but you can't guarantee anything with mating pairs of cichlids.
