Half life Nihilanth large room help?

Im in the room with the ichiusoar (i most likely didn't spell that right) and the 2 jump things. I can't reach the portal, iv'e looked at EVERY walktrough including 1 in spanish and have tried long jump and pointing the radiation gun discharge at the ground to propel myself and still about 15 feet away.
