Hiatus Hernia Repair Operation: Anybody had one?

My Hernia is quite big and I was wondering if they will only do small keyhole ones or do a big cut for a big one. Also how long does it take to recover? All advice welcome. I am currently taking Pepcidine but it does not help my reflux much.
